Overview

Meet Jess and Joe. They want to tell you their story. Joe is Norfolk born and bred and wears wellies. Jess holidays there with her au pair and is slightly too tubby for her summer dresses. They are miles apart even when they stand next to each other. This is a story of growing up, fitting in (or not), boys, girls, secrets, scotch eggs and maybe even love, but most of all, it’s about friendship.

Spanning several summer holidays, Jess and Joe Forever is an unusual coming of age tale that explores rural life and what it means to belong somewhere, if you can really belong anywhere.

A layered and thoughtful play about finding your place in the world when you only know a small corner of it. This edition was published to coincide with House Theatre’s production at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh in 2017.

A new edition of a touching play about the profound friendship between Jess and Joe as they tackle growing up and fitting in.

A beautifully told story about friendship that received critical acclaim following its world premiere in 2016
Filled with excellently observed duologues, this would be the ideal text for two people seeking to practice paired audition pieces
A new edition of the text, updated for the play’s run at the Traverse Theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 2017

This is a small play with a big heart, a romantic comedy that’s genuinely funny but also unexpectedly powerful…

It’s a hell of an introduction to adulthood. Zoe Cooper captures it all with pinpoint precision in Jess and Joe Forever, a coming-of-teenage tale set in the fens… The lightness of touch and splashes of humour quietly, charmingly, deftly coalesce into heartrending and heartwarming beauty

a hugely enjoyable romcom… quirky, funny, moving and theatrically thrilling – a small play that packs a great emotional punch
